The multifaceted experience of the Alps

Rhine Gorge

Important period of protection – April 1 until July 15

How to preserve nature

The Rhine Gorge is home to highly endangered bird species just as the sandpiper and the little ringed plover. They hatch on the gravel banks at the river and rear their offspring. If they get disturbed during this period, this might risk the hatch. It is therefore of utmost importance that you mind the protected zones along the Rhine Gorge and respect the ban on entering from April 1 until July 15. To protect the birds, dogs must be leashed.
